Terms of Use
Last updated: April 2026
By using Indietax (“the Site”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
1. What Indietax is and isn’t
Indietax provides free, general-purpose tax calculators for informational purposes only. The tools are designed to give you a reasonable estimate of your UK tax position based on HMRC published rates and thresholds for the selected tax year.
Indietax is not:
- A regulated financial adviser or tax adviser
- Authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
- Affiliated with HMRC or any government body
- A substitute for professional accountancy advice
2. Accuracy of calculations
All calculators on this Site are estimates. While we make every reasonable effort to keep rates, thresholds, and logic up to date and accurate, we cannot guarantee that results will be correct in every individual circumstance. Tax law is complex; individual situations often involve factors that a general calculator cannot account for.
Results may be affected by (but are not limited to): Scottish income tax, multiple income sources, pension contributions, gift aid, capital gains, foreign income, employment benefits, prior-year loss relief, and changes in HMRC practice or interpretation.
You must verify any figures that matter to you with a qualified accountant or tax adviser before taking action.
3. No liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Indietax and its operator shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or cost arising from your use of, or reliance on, any calculation or information on this Site. This includes but is not limited to:
- Errors or inaccuracies in calculator results
- Tax liabilities, penalties, or interest incurred based on estimates from this Site
- Decisions made in reliance on information provided here
- Loss of data or interruption of service
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other matter where liability cannot be excluded by English law.
4. No financial or tax advice
Nothing on this Site constitutes financial advice, tax advice, or any form of regulated advice within the meaning of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 or any subsequent legislation. The Site provides general information only.
For advice specific to your circumstances, consult a qualified and regulated accountant or tax adviser. You can find a qualified accountant through the ICAEW, ACCA, or AAT.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site in any way that breaches applicable UK or international law or regulation
